Riyad, Jan 31 (Prensa Latina) The secretary general of the Gulf
Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, condemned
today the terrorist attacks in the Egyptian Peninsula of Sinai, which
position was also expressed by Iran and other Islamic countries.
Al-Zayani deplored in the strongest terms the bomb attacks Thursday
perpetrated by an organization affiliated with the Islamic State (IS)
against bases of the police and soldiers of Egypt Army in El-Arish,
capital of North Sinai.
The attack killed 32 and wounded 100, according to regional media.
After expressing condolences for those killed and wish speedy recovery
to the injured, the Secretary general of the bloc made up of six Arab
nations of the Persian Gulf insisted on the need to fight hard the
extremist groups in the region.
On Friday, the spokesman of the
Foreign Affairs Ministry of Iran, Marzieh Afkham, also condemned the
violent actions of the group called Ansar Bait Al-Maqdes, who recently
swore allegiance to DAESH, (Arabic acronym of IS) and supported his
intention to establish an Islamic caliphate.
That attack,
stressed Afkham, seek to involve Islamic countries in minor issues and
put them apart from the Muslim worldÅ› priority, which is to support the
Palestinian people and defend the holy city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem in
Arabic).
In this same capital, the Royal House of Saudi Arabia
announced this Saturday that king Salan bin Abdulaziz sent a message of
condolence to Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to express
sorrow for the victims of what he described as criminal acts.
Individually, the governments of UAE and Bahrain strongly condemned
attacks on security stations and military and media facilities in the
Sinai, while rejecting stressed 'all forms of violence and terrorism
against Egypt'.
The Foreign Affairs Minister of the United
Emirate, Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash showed strong support to the
authorities in Cairo and called on the international community to stand
with Egypt in confronting extremism and terrorism.
