Nisar stresses need to highlight efforts for uprooting terrorism

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Monday stressed the need to highlight the national efforts for uprooting terrorism and extremism among the comity of nations in their true spirit.

The joint efforts to root out the menace from the country were not only unprecedented but also unheard of in the past, he said while talking to newly designated Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations Dr Maleeha Lodhi here at the Punjab House.

The National Action Plan (NAP), he said, had firm support of all political parties, civil society, armed forces and the people.

The entire nation was fully committed to eliminate the menace of extremism, he added.

In view of her vast experience for holding important international positions and strong acumen of international relations, the minister said, the government had huge expectations from Dr Maleeha Lodhi as Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations.

He said Dr Lodhi was the first lady to hold this important international position and extended his best wishes to her. - APP
